DOBBERS UP - For the "curveballs" in life

The mission of Dobbers Up is to improve the lives of the children and families in need in our community through financial assistance and service.

Dobbers Up was founded in 2007 to help financially support Dan Dowson and his family during his courageous battle with ALS. Dan lost his battle in 2009, but he never lost his faith, his sense of humor, or his giving spirit.

It is that spirit and Dan's "never give up" attitude that inspires Dobbers Up to continue its work to help others who, like Dan, have been "thrown a curve ball in life."

In the past year Dobbers Up has financially assisted 7 local families, made donations to the National Balloon Classic and the Indianola Community Youth Foundation, sponsored a speaker at Indianola High School, provided a $1,000 scholarship to an Indianola High School senior and plans to continue this scholarship. Dobbers Up has also helped with other community fundraisers, performed yard work for a family in need, and provided and served breakfast at a special needs camp in Indianola.

Save the Date! The 4th annual Dobbers Up Golf Tournament has been rescheduled to AUGUST 12, 2011 at the Indianola Country Club.

At this year's golf tournament Dobbers Up is pleased to announce that we will be partnering with the Indianola Community Youth Foundation. This year's silent and live auction will be presented by the ICYF and all proceeds will benefit this organization.

In honor of:
Dan Dowson
November 21, 1958 - October 27, 2009

Avid sports fan who enjoyed golfing, fishing, coaching, spending time with his family, and attending his children's activities.  Survived by his wife and children and many friends and family members who want to honor his memory with his "Dobbers up!" motto.

Dan encouraged others to remain optimistic, and in the tough times to keep their dobbers up and keep going and pick themselves up.

Join us for Dobbers Up events and honor Dan's motto!
